Where does the money for health come from? What's next for investments within the KPO? - this was discussed by Deputy Minister of Health Katarzyna Kacperczyk in the "Miodowa 15" program during the EEC. She also summed up the activities of the Polish presidency in health so far.

- Where does the money for health come from? Among others, from the KPO - said Deputy Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk in the "Miodowa 15" program during the European Economic Congress
- - As we know, we have already completed the first proceedings, we have allocated almost PLN 10 billion for investments in the health care sector, mainly in the hospital sector - she summed up.
- - We also have more recruitments for district and highly specialized hospitals in the field of cardiology ahead of us - she announced.
- What about the presidency? Here, the minister emphasized that it was possible to permanently introduce the issue of children's and youth mental health in the context of new digital challenges to the European Commission and the EU agenda
During the EEC, Deputy Minister of Health Katarzyna Kacperczyk was a guest of the "Miodowa 15" program.
She was asked about, among other things, money for health. As she explained, financing in health care should be viewed in a broader context.
- We must remember that we are now in an exceptional time, when a very large amount of investment capital has flowed in, a great deal of investment funds, primarily from the National Reconstruction Plan. As we know, we have already completed the first procedures, we have allocated almost PLN 10 billion for investments in the health care sector, mainly in the hospital sector. Almost 200 hospitals will receive financial support both for the development of long-term care in geriatric departments, but also a significant amount, over PLN 5 billion - for the development of oncology, both in highly specialized hospitals and in hospitals that meet the needs of patients as close to their place of residence as possible, i.e. also in district hospitals. We also have further recruitments ahead of us for district and highly specialized hospitals in the area of cardiology. This amount of allocation will amount to approx. PLN 2 billion, so these are also considerable funds - explained the interviewee.
At the same time, she emphasized that a call for over PLN 3 billion in the area of hospital digitalization has been announced. In total, it will be about PLN 17 billion and, according to the deputy head of the Ministry of Health, we will manage to spend most of it.
Polish Presidency. What about the pharmaceutical package? What was successful during the presidency? To this question from the deputy minister, Kacperczyk replied that she hoped that the assumptions of the Polish presidency would be fulfilled.
- We are very pleased that we have managed to permanently introduce the issue of children's and youth mental health in the context of new social media, new digital challenges, to the agenda of the European Commission and the EU. There is a great deal of interest from European institutions, but also from Member States to continue this topic and take initiatives - she noted.
She recalled that in June there will be conclusions with specific recommendations for the Member States and the European Commission for further specific actions, regulations and research on this topic.
When asked whether the recommendations would include drug safety, Deputy Minister Kacperczyk emphasized that "we have a revision of the pharmaceutical package on the agenda" and the Polish presidency has significantly accelerated the negotiations.
The deputy minister added that she believes that for the good of patients and the good of the system, "it will be possible to reach a compromise between member states and the pharmaceutical industry."
I hope that we will manage to complete the pharmaceutical package. During the Polish presidency, we are also starting (already within the working group) the first reading, the first exchange of views and positions on the act on critical medicines. So this is a new act, which was presented during our presidency. Its task is to build the security of the pharmaceutical sector in Europe, European companies, joint purchases, dealing with drug shortages and ensuring greater access to medicines for patients - she concluded.
